The University of Naples Federico II (UNINA) hosted the 6th Young Minds Leadership Meeting (12-13 May 2017) and the 15th Young Minds Action Committee Meeting (11 May 2017).
The meeting was organised by the Physics and Optics Naples Young Students (PONYS), the local European Physical Society (EPS) section, and the Young Minds Action Committee, and was supported by EPS, the Physics Department of Naples University Federico II, the Italian Physical Society (SIF), the local section of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN Napoli), and the Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems of the National Research Council (CNR-ISASI).
The next annual meeting, hosted by CERN, will take place from 21 – 25 August 2017 in Geneva (CH) at two different locations. Starting at CERN on the 21st with internal meetings of some of the participating societies, the 22nd will be dedicated to plenary and invited talks and more. The meeting will continue in the Centre International de Conférences de Genève (CICG) from 23 – 25 August where further plenary talks and all topical sessions will take place.
The 15th Young Minds Action Committee meeting took place in London on October 28th. It was a short but intense meeting, resulting in some big news we are eager to share with you.
First of all, we would like to welcome three new Action Committee members, as well as thank the members who are going to leave us.
The Norwegian Physicist meeting will be held from 7–9 August 2017 in Tromsø, Norway.
The venue is the new Technology building, home of the Physics and Technology, and Engineering departments at University of Tromsø, The Arctic University of Norway.
The 72nd board of the Nuclear Physics Division (NPD) of the European Physical Society (EPS) was held on 27-29 September 2016 at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR, Dubna, RU).
The 5th Young Minds Leadership Meeting (15-16 July 2016) and the 13th Young Minds Action Committee Meeting (14 July 2016) took place in Budapest, hosted by ELTE – the Eotvos Lorand University. It was a three-day marathon, full of exciting events, talks, bright ideas and important news.
The triennial meeting of the Physical Society of Hungary named after Roland Eötvös took place in August 2016 at the town of Szeged.
Following on from successful conferences held since 2006, the European Physical Society and CLEO®/Europe-EQEC in collaboration with the Chairs of ECOC 2016 are delighted to announce the organisation of a special CLEO Focus Meeting on Fundamental Photonics for Future Telecommunications, to be held as part of ECOC 2016 from 18-22 September 2016 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The EPS Executive Committee met in Athens, Greece on 22-23 January 2016. The meeting was hosted by S. Sotiriou, who is the head of the physics department at the Ellino Germaniki school in Athens. This school is a leader in inquiry based science education. The Executive Committee discussed, among other affairs, the preparation of the EPS Council meeting 2016, the creation of a new EPS Advisory Board for Science Policy and the review of the EPS Strategy. EPS President has expressed his great appreciation for the new guest house of the Physics Centre in Bad Honnef, Germany, as a forum for international meetings and views it as a characteristic example that physics and research in general brings people together no matter what their nationality, colour, sex or religion.
The 13th SESAME users’ meeting will take place in Amman on November 25 and 26, 2015. It will include:
1. updates on the project,
2. invited speakers on selected topics related to SESAME scientific plans
On 29-30 May 2015, the Institute of Photonic Sciences [ICFO] in Barcelona hosted the 4th EPS Young Minds Leadership Meeting. This meeting brings together the members of the Young Minds (YM) programme of the European Physical Society [EPS]. Started in 2010, it encourages young physicists to collaborate, developing scientific, networking and outreach activities. 22 YM Sections took part in the event, representing 12 countries: Portugal, Lithuania, Italy, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, Ukraine, Spain, France, Hungary, Denmark and Poland.
