The first meeting of the EPS Executive Committee under the presidency of John Dudley was held at EPS premises in Mulhouse, France, on 8 June 2013.

During this meeting, a longer discussion was devoted to the drafts of various EPS statements. As a federation and a learned society, EPS issues statements on actual topics of science policy. The EPS Executive Committee Meeting, February 2013

The European Physical Society’s Executive Committee [EPS ExCom] met on 1-2 February 2013 in the beautiful venue of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts in Barcelona, Spain. The ExCom was kindly and warmly welcomed by the president of the Academy, Ramon Pascual de Sans, EPS individual member since 1970!

Important points in the agenda of the meeting were, in particular, the EPS position paper on Horizon 2020 (see Editorial in this issue), the report commissioned by EPS to CEBR on the importance of physics to the economies…

Summary of EPS ExCom Meeting, October 2012

At the end of October 2012, the European Physical Society’s Executive Committee met at the Ettore Majorana Scientific Centre in Erice, Italy, in parallel with the kick-off under the chairmanship of H. Wenninger. The common location allowed the ExCom to learn about ongoing work and future evolution of the TIG.

The European Physical Society [EPS] Executive Committee met at the EPS headquarters, in Mulhouse, on 8-9 June this year. Following the 2011 strategy discussion – and the elections earlier this year – the committee is now composed of 13 members, eight of whom are new to the board this year.

2012 European Physical Society Council

Representatives from all European Physical Society [EPS] Member Societies, Divisions and Groups met for the 2012 EPS Council, which was held on 30-31 March at CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland.

As with every even year, elections were a major item on the agenda. John Dudley, of France’s Université de Franche-Comté, was elected the incoming president of the EPS. EPS elections to be held during council at CERN

The next European Physical Society [EPS] council meeting will be held at CERN, Geneva, on 30-31 March this year. The council will see the gathering of around 100 delegates, representing member societies, individual members, associate institutions, divisions and groups.

Elections will take place for both executive committee members and for the EPS president-elect. A large list of executive committee candidates has been formed, covering various European areas and physics fields…

January 2012 EPS Executive Committee Meeting

The European Physical Society [EPS] Executive Committee met at the EPS headquarters, in Mulhouse, on 27-28 January 2012. One of the central tasks of this meeting was to make preparations for the upcoming EPS council, and the preceding Forum Physics and Society, which are scheduled to be held at CERN at the end of March this year.

As the first meeting of the new year, the 2011 accounts were discussed, and a budget for 2012 was drawn up. In addition, the committee will prepare a brief statement on the study “Physics and the EU economy”, to be presented…

EPS to consider increase in fees for Individual Members

A proposal to increase Individual Member fees is being presented by the European Physical Society [EPS] Executive Committee at the 2012 EPS Council. The motion would see an increase in Individual Member fees by 10 per cent, for all respective categories.

The current membership fees have been fixed since 2007. If adopted, the fee increase would apply only to Individual Members, and would become effective in 2013…
