2019 is the 100th anniversary of the death of the great Hungarian physicist, Lorand Eötvös, mostly known for his groundbreaking experiment demonstrating the equivalence of inertial and gravitational mass. The year 2019 will therefore be Eötvös year for the physics community in Hungary. Among other events, an International Conference on Precision Physics and Fundamental Constants (FFK-2019) will be organised on this occasion in June 2019 in Tihany. Festive events will be organised in other parts of the world as well, since UNESCO accepted the Hungarian proposal and is associated with the worldwide celebration of Lorand Eötvös in 2019.
