On 16 January 2015, ESA Director General Jean-Jacques Dordain met the press to provide an overview of ESA’s achievements in 2014 and the opportunities ahead in 2015. The event took place at ESA headquarters in Paris, France.

In the EPN Editorial Advisory Board meeting, held in Paris on 27 September 2014, it was decided to have a special issue devoted to the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies [IYL 2015].
All the features in the EPN 46/5-6, with more pages than the other four issues, will be devoted to subjects related to the IYL2015. Prof. Luc Bergé, Chair of the Quantum Electronics and Optics Division of the EPS, will be the Guest Editor of this special issue.

5 December 2014: J. Dudley, EPS President, D. Lee, EPS General Secretary, and J. Rivero, IYL 2015 Outreach Officer, attended a meeting organised by the European Commission in Brussels (BE) to discuss coordination of activities of the three projects financed to promote photonics in Europe.
The 42nd Annual IOP Spring Conference on Plasma Physics will run from 30 March to 2 April at the Kents Hill Park Training and Conference Centre in Milton Keynes and will cover all disciplines including Magnetic and Inertial confinement fusion, Astrophysical Plasmas and Low Density and Technological/Industrial Plasmas to name a few.
This meeting is the thirteenth in a series initiated in 1980 and will be held in Castiglione della Pescaia and La Biodola, Italy, devoted to advanced detectors for high energy and astroparticle physics experiments. It will take place from 24-30 May 2015.
