HBSM-2018 Conference in Suzdal, Russia, and the activities of the Russian EPS Young Minds section
Suzdal, an ancient small city in Russia 260 km away from Moscow, hosted on August 6-11 the 13th International Conference on “Hole Burning, Single Molecules, and Related Spectroscopies: Science and Applications” (HBSM-2018), which was organised in Russia for the first time.
The EPS Edison Volta Prize 2016 awarded to Michel Orrit
The EPS, the Fondazione Alessandro Volta and Edison S.p.A. have awarded the 2016 EPS Edison Volta Prize for outstanding contributions to physics to Michel A.G.J. Orrit, from Leiden University, the Netherlands “for seminal contributions to optical science, to the field of single-molecule spectroscopy and imaging (first single molecule detection by fluorescence and first optical detection of magnetic resonance in single molecule) and for pioneering investigations into the photoblinking and photobleaching behaviors of individual molecules at the heart of many current optical superresolution experiments.”

ICES 2015 – International Conference on Enhanced Spectroscopies
The 2nd International Conference on Enhanced Spectroscopies [ICES 2015], will take place from 12-15 October 2015 at the Palazzo della Cultura in Messina, Italy.
Following the previous editions of ICES 2012 in Porquerolles (France) and SES 2014 in Chemnitz (Germany), ICES 2015 will bring together scientists experts in the field of plasmon enhanced spectroscopies and plasmonics coming from all around the world, to share their latest results, put forward open questions and address future developments in the field.
Cold and Ultra Cold Molecules conference
The “Cold and Ultra Cold Molecules” research conference is being held in Obergurgl, Austria, on 18-23 November this year. The conference will cover topics within this emerging field, such as the production of cold and ultracold molecules; applications for precision spectroscopy; few-body and many-body quantum physics; chemical physics; and quantum chemistry.
