Nominations for the EPS Hannes Alfvén Prize 2017 “For outstanding contributions to plasma physics” are now open.
The prize was established by the EPS Plasma Physics Division in 2000 and is awarded for research achievements which have either already shaped the field of plasma physics or have demonstrated the potential to do so in future. To recognize collaborative research, a group of up to three individual scientists may be nominated.
The EPS Plasma Physics Division (EPS PPD) recognises outstanding research in plasma physics with several prizes.
The 43rd European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics will be held in Leuven, Belgium, from 4 to 8 July 2016.
This conference is part of the series of European Physical Society (EPS) conferences on plasma physics, encompassing the fields of fusion research, laser-plasma interaction and inertial confinement fusion, as well as dusty and low temperature plasmas.
The annual conference of the EPS Plasma Physics Division was held at CCB Lisbon from 22-26 June 2015. Hosted by the Instituto de Plasmas e Fusão Nuclear, organised by Bruno Gonçalves and scientifically chaired by Robert Bingham, it attracted 650 participants from 38 countries. The conference reflected the diverse topics that plasma physics is engaged with, ranging from magnetic confinement fusion, beam plasmas and inertial fusion or basic, space and astrophysical plasmas to low temperature and dusty plasmas, industrial plasmas and plasmas in medicine. Two evening sessions were arranged; the first one, on ITER, featured Professor Bernard Bigot, Director General of ITER, as guest speaker, while the second one was devoted to EUROfusion.
This conference continues a series of plasma physics conferences organized by the EPS Plasma Physics Division covering the wide field from nuclear fusion research to low temperature plasmas, as well as space and astrophysical plasmas.
The venue of the 42nd EPS conference will be in Centro Cultural de Belem, located between the famous Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower, in Lisbon, Portugal.
The EPS Plasma Physics Division [EPS PPD] recognises outstanding research in plasma physics with several prizes. The calls for the 2015 prizes are now open:
- Call for nominations for the 2015 European Physical Society Plasma Physics Division Hannes Alfvén Prize (deadline: 3 November 2014)
- Call for nominations for the 2015 European Physical Society Plasma Physics Division Innovation Award (deadline: 1 November 2014)…
The American Physical Society [APS] and the European Physical Society [EPS], through their respective Plasma Physics Divisions, are seeking nominations for the Landau Spitzer Award.
The Award is given to an individual or group of researchers, not exceeding three, who has/have made outstanding theoretical, experimental or technical contribution(s) in the area of fundamental plasma physics, fusion plasmas, astrophysical or space plasmas, low-temperature plasmas, or high energy density plasmas. The prize may be awarded to a team or collaboration of up to four persons if such a team consists of individuals from both Europe…
The 41st EPS conference on Plasma Physics will be held from 23-27 June 2014 in Berlin, Germany.
This conference continues the series of plasma physics conferences organized by the European Physical Society covering the wide field from nuclear fusion research to the low temperature plasmas, as well as space and astrophysical plasmas.
A number of scientists accepted to prepare plenary talks of general interest for the participants. Invited talks will be given for the four topics separately, namely on Magnetic Confinement Fusion, on Beam Plasmas and Inertial Fusion…
The 22nd Europhysics Conference on Atomic and Molecular Physics of Ionized Gases [ESCAMPIG XXII] will be held from 15-19 July 2014 in Greifswald, Germany.
ESCAMPIG XXII is a biannual conference of the European Physical Society [EPS], in which experts on
plasma physics join together to discuss the latest advances in this field. The conference topics comprise basic and applied plasma research ranging from atomic and molecular processes in plasmas and plasma-surface interaction to…
The EPS Plasma Physics Division took the opportunity of its 40th annual conference, held in Espoo, Finland, from 1-5 July, 2013, to reward researchers who have achieved outstanding scientific or technological results, thus reinforcing excellence in science.
The 2013 Hannes Alfvén Prize was awarded to Miklos Porkolab (MIT Plasma Science and Fusion Center, US) “for his seminal contributions to the physics of plasma waves and his key role in the development of fusion…
Held the first time in Munich in 1966, the European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics [EPS-CPP] will be organized for the 40th time this year. Hosted by the Aalto University, Finland, the 40th EPS-CPP will take place from 1-5 July 2013.
About 700 participants are expected to discuss the latest results related to fusion research, magnetic confinement fusion, beam plasmas, laser-plasma interaction and inertial confinement fusion, dusty and low temperature plasmas,…
