The European nuclear physics community met at Darmstadt (DE) on January 11th-13th to discuss and finalise the NuPECC Long Range Plan (LRP) 2017.
The 8th Nuclear Physics in Astrophysics international conference [NPAVIII] will be held from 18-21 June 2017 at the INFN – Laboratori Nazionali del Sud in Catania, Italy. NPAVIII is supported by the European Physical Society.
The board of the European Physical Society (EPS) Nuclear Physics Division (NPD) calls for nominations for the 2017 IBA-Europhysics Prize sponsored by the IBA company, https://iba-worldwide.com/
The May 2016 issue of the journal Nature Physics features an ‘Insight’ on nuclear fusion — a collection of commissioned Commentaries and Reviews highlighting various aspects of fusion science, from the basic physics involved to the practical difficulties ahead.
One of the main activities of the board of the EPS Nuclear Physics Division is to organise the European Nuclear Physics Conference, which is an EPS Divisional Conference and one of the major international conferences that reviews the field of nuclear physics every third year.
The highest French civil award “Chevalier de la legion d’honneur” was conferred on Sydney Galès for his lifelong excellent achievements in science and his great service to the community. He received the honour on November 9, 2015 from the French secretary of state for Higher education and research. The ceremony took place at the ‘Frederic and Irène Joliot-Curie’ auditorium of the institute of Nuclear Physics of Orsay (IPN-Orsay) in the presence of a large number of French, European and Japanese colleagues. It was an excellent opportunity to reminisce about and contemplate Sydney’s contributions to science and to the community of Nuclear Physics in Europe and worldwide.
The Nuclear Physics Division [NPD] of the European Physical Society [EPS] is calling for expressions of interest to host the European Nuclear Physics Conference 2018 [EuNPC2018].
The Nuclear Physics European Collaboration Committee [NuPECC] has just started the process for the preparation of a new Long Range Plan (LRP) for nuclear science in Europe. A new European strategy document is indeed needed since the last one dates from 2010 and because these documents are important references for research in the field over a period of 5-7 years.
The KVI-Center for Advanced Radiation Technology (KVI-CART) was the host of the 3rd European Nuclear Physics Conference (EuNPC2015) that was held from August 31 to September 4, 2015, in the city of Groningen, in the Netherlands. The conference, an activity of the Nuclear Physics Division of the European Physical Society, was the successor of earlier events held in Bochum (2009) and in Bucharest (2012). EuNPC2015 was the showcase for the most recent developments in the field of nuclear physics covering a wide range of topics from fundamental aspects to applications. This year’s edition focused on talented young scientists.
The European Physical Society Conference on Nuclear Physics is one of the major International Conferences that reviews the field of nuclear physics every third year. The first two Conferences were held in Bochum (2009) and in Bucharest (2012), with 374 participants from 29 countries in the last one.
In 2015 the Third European Nuclear Physics Conference will take place in Groningen, Netherlands from August 31 to September 4, 2015.
Particle accelerators, digital data acquisition, isotope technology, sophisticated detector systems with imaging software… You can find these instruments in a high tech physics research laboratory, or, if you look a bit closer, in a modern hospital as well.
Modern healthcare from diagnostics to therapy is largely based on physics. That is why NuPECC, the Nuclear Physics Expert Committee of the European Science Foundation compiled a report on the impact of nuclear physics in medicine.
The Nuclear Physics in Astronomy VII conference [NPA VII] will be held in York, United-Kingdom, from 18-22 May 2015.
NPA VII is the 7th edition of a series of conferences held every 2 years, organised by the EPS Nuclear Physics Division. The 2015 conference will bring together experts from different backgrounds: nuclear physicists, astronomers, cosmo-chemists, etc. They will discuss all topics related to astrophysics including the Big Bang, the latest observation and …
