The ATOMINSTITUT (Institute of Atomic and Subatomic Physics of TU Wien, Vienna, Austria) was designated an EPS Historic Site in 2019 honoring the achievement of Helmut Rauch.

The ceremony took place during the Joint 3rd International Conference on the History of Physics, organised under the auspices of the European Physical Society and 4th Early-Career Conference for Historians in the Physical Sciences of the American Institute of Physics, 17-20 October 2018, in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain.
Since the 2009 foundation of the European Centre for the History of Physics (ECHOPHYSICS) in Pöllau/Austria, a strong effort has been made to remember the pioneering work of European and domestic scientists in the field of physics.
2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the creation of the European Physical Society (EPS). In this context, and following the success of two previous meetings in Cambridge (United Kingdom) and Pöllau (Austria), the organisers are happy to announce the Third International Conference on the History of Physics, under the auspices of the EPS, which will take place in Donostia/San Sebastian (Spain) in October 17-21, 2018.
