2018 saw the 20th anniversary of the founding of EPJ, the European Physical Journal. Launched in 1998, EPJ brought together the combined strengths of some long-established national European physics journals, starting with the initial merger of Journal de Physique, Il Nuovo Cimento and Zeitschrift für Physik, and continuing with the adoption and in- corporation of Acta Physica Hungarica, Anales de Fisica, Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, Fizika A, and Portugaliae Physica. e EPJ Scientific Advisory Committee includes now members from 25 European learned societies.
The European Physical Journal (EPJ) consists of a series of high-quality peer-reviewed journals (8 traditional and 8 open access) covering the whole spectrum of pure and applied physics and related interdisciplinary subjects. EPJ also includes the EPJ Web of Conferences and maintains editorial transfer coordination with EPL.

The European Physical Journal E [EPJ E] has awarded the 3rd Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Lecture Prize to Professor Julia Yeomans from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, for her outstanding contributions in the field of soft matter and biological physics.
The prestigious prize is awarded to outstanding scientists for their contribution to soft matter research and takes its name after the illustrious French Nobel laureate and EPJ E founder Pierre-Gilles de Gennes. The award is sponsored…
The launch of the European Physical Journal [EPJ] in 1998 as a merger of Il Nuovo Cimento, Journal de Physique and Zeitschrift für Physik, triggered a succession of mergers and transformations of existing journals of the founding partners. After 15 years, EPJ is proud to present itself as a continuation of several European journals, with its 9 different sections that cover the main fields of core physics.
The strategy in the last few years to develop journals that target specific needs of the scientific community has…
In November, the European Physical Journal [EPJ] opened its new online portal that allows to easily access to the articles published in EPJ journals and to archives of predecessor publications.
With more than one century of physics-related publications, the EPJ series is comprised of 13 peer-reviewed journals covering a wide spectrum of physics. The EPJ portal has enhanced search facilities to find articles by journal or among the global EPJ database, including archives. The total of articles available on the EJP portal…
The Physics Publishing Alliance [PPA], in a joint initiative under the aegis of the European Physical Society [EPS], is bringing together a number of physics journals which have strong scientific and editorial links with European learned societies.
Regular selections of the best articles from the core journals will be made free to access, through the Physics Publishing Alliance Portal for Electronic Review [PPA PER], which will be embedded in the new EPS website…
