First China-Europe Solar Physics Meeting Accomplished

During May 15 – 19, 2017, the first China-Europe Solar Physics Meeting (CESPM-1) was successfully organised in the city of Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. The European Solar Physics Division (ESPD), on behalf of the entire European solar physics community, strongly endorsed and advocated for this gathering. Contributing to the CESPM-1 organisation, the ESPD was also delighted to participate in its deliberations.

BEPCII broke luminosity record at charm energy region

On 5 April 2016, the BEPCII, upgrade of the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), broke the luminosity record again in the charm energy region by 10.0´1032cm-2s-1, and reached its design luminosity at the optimised beam energy of 1.89 GeV as well.

The Institute of High Energy Physics [IHEP] under the auspices of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, celebrated its 40th birthday on 1 February 2013. More than 700 people including IHEP staff, representatives from the funding agencies and the fellow research institutions around China attended the celebration at the IHEP campus.

Chinese Physical Society celebrates 80th Anniversary

The Chinese Physical Society is celebrating its 80th Anniversary on 25 August this year. A commemorate event, which is being held in Beijing, will bring together international physics leaders to discuss the status of physics worldwide. European Physical Society president Luisa Cifarelli will be in attendance.

The celebratory special session will also include a forum on physics education and outreach, workshops in a number of select research fields, and excursions to local laboratories and places of interest…

IHEP appoints Wang Yifang as new institute director

The Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has appointed Wang Yifang as their new director. The decision was announced during a meeting held at the institute on the 24 October.

The Institute of High Energy Physics [IHEP] is the biggest basic science research centre in China. Fields studied at the institute include accelerator physics and technologies, astrophysics, particle physics and synchrotron and nuclear radiation applications.
