The Australian SKA Pathfinder: A ‘next generation’ Radio Telescope

The Australian SKA Pathfinder is a new 36-element radio interferometer designed to be a fast survey telescope. Its key technology, phased-array receivers designed by CSIRO, has shown proven advantages in bandwidth, field of view and adaptability. ASKAP is located at a superbly ‘radio quiet’ site in Western Australia, one of the sites that will house the international Square Kilometre Array.

Each year the AIP funds the national Women in Physics tour by an eminent physicist. This year’s AIP Women in Physics lecturer will be Catalina Curceanu, Head Researcher of Italy’s National Institute of Nuclear Physics [INFN].

AIP Women in Physics Lecture Tour: call for nominations 2016

The Australian Institute of Physics Women in Physics Lecture Tour celebrates the contribution of women to advances in physics. Under this scheme, a woman who has made a significant contribution in a field of physics will be selected to present lectures in venues arranged by each participating branch of the AIP.  Nominations are currently sought for the AIP WIP Lecturer for 2016.
