43rd European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics
The 43rd European Physical Society Conference on Plasma Physics will be held in Leuven, Belgium, from 4 to 8 July 2016.
This conference is part of the series of European Physical Society (EPS) conferences on plasma physics, encompassing the fields of fusion research, laser-plasma interaction and inertial confinement fusion, as well as dusty and low temperature plasmas.
Joint IOP-EPS scientific session at ESOF 2016
ESOF 2016, the seventh pan-European conference dedicated to scientific research and innovation, will take place from 23-27 July 2016 in Manchester, UK.
HCI-2016
The 18th International Conference on the Physics of Highly Charged Ions, HCI-2016, will be held from 11 to 16 September 2016 in Kielce, Poland.
STATPHYS 2016
Statphys 2016 will take place in Lyon (FR) from 18-22 July 2016. The 26th IUPAP international conference on Statistical Physics [Statphys 26] will cover a wide range of topics including traditional aspects of statistical mechanics, such as applications to hard and soft condensed matter, phase transitions, disordered systems and non-equilibrium physics, as well as emergent and modern applications such as turbulence, signal processing, complex systems and mathematics.
STEAM summer school
The STEAM Summer School provides training in science communication for university students, researchers, and educators. It innovatively marries science and art in science communication practice. The 10-day programme (13-22 July, 2016) at Rhine-Waal University (Dutch/German border) offers a unique experience in science communication training.
13th SPARC Topical Workshop
The 13th SPARC Topical Workshop will take place between 16th and 20th September 2016 at Marian Smoluchowski Institute of Physics of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland.
InitialStages2016
The 3rd International Conference on the Initial Stages in High-Energy Nuclear Collisions [InitialStages2016] will take place from 23 – 27 May 2016 in Alameda Campus, Lisbon, Portugal.
Editorial – The Roadmap 2016 of the European Strategic Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI)
From the launch event on September 25th 2014 in Trieste (IT) to the presentation of the Roadmap 2016 on March 1oth in Amsterdam (NL), ESFRI has carried out an important refinement of its method and has produced a new strategy document identifying new projects and consolidated landmarks as well as a thorough analysis of the European Landscape of Research Infrastructures accessible to European scientists and developers.
The Old Cabinet of Physics of the University of Coimbra distinguished as EPS Historic Site
On 11 March 2016, the European Physical Society (EPS) and the Portuguese Physical Society [SPF], honoured the “Cabinet of Physics of the University of Coimbra”, in the building of the oldest Jesuit college in the world (founded in 1542) donated by the Marquis of Pombal to the University of Coimbra.

EPS distinctions 2016
EPS Members can recognise individuals whose achievements in physics, whether in research, industry or education and/or through commitment to the SOCIETY and award them the distinction of a Fellow on the European Physical Society. In 2016, EPS Council welcomed the following individuals as EPS Fellows.
Luc Bergé French Commission for Atomic Energy, CEA, Paris, FR, for his outstanding theoretical contributions to the wave propagation in nonlinear media and for his service to the European Physical Society.
