ECAMP 12, the 12 European Conference on Atoms, Molecules and Photons by the Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics Division [AMOPD] of the EPS took place at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany from September 5-9 2016.
The 2016 Young Scientist Prize of the Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics Division has been awarded to Dr. Christian Brand from the University of Vienna (Austria) for his outstanding contribution to “matter-wave experiments with complex molecules”.
Joachim Burgdörfer, Dean of Faculty and Professor at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), Vienna- Austria, has been elected as the new Chair of the European Physical Society’s Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics Division [AMOPD], succeeding Dominique Vernhet from the University Pierre and Marie Curie- Sorbonne Universities in Paris, France, who has led the division for the last three years.
Applications are sought for the Young Scientist Prize in Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics [AMOP], which will be awarded, for the first time, in 2016 by the Divisional Board during the 12th European Conference on Atoms, Molecules and Photons [ECAMP-12] to be held on September 5-9, 2016, in Frankfurt, Germany.
The 29th International Conference on Photonic, Electronic and Atomic Collisions [XXIX ICPEAC] was held at the Palacio de Congresos “El Greco”, Toledo, Spain, on 22–28 July, 2015. ICPEAC is held biannually and is one of the most important international conferences on atomic and molecular physics. The conference gathered 670 participants from 52 countries.
During the conference, 854 contributed papers were presented in poster sessions, covering the recent progresses in photonic, electronic, and atomic collisions with matter (most of them can now be checked at online at J. Phys. Conf. Series, 635 (see http://iopscience.iop.org/1742-6596/635). In addition, five plenary lectures, including the opening one by the Nobel laureate Prof. Ahmed H. Zewail and the lectures by Prof. Maciej Lewenstein, Prof. Paul Scheier, Prof. Philip H. Bucksbaum, and Prof. Stephen J. Buckman, 62 progress reports and 26 special reports were presented.
The 29th International Conference on Photonic, Electronic and Atomic Collisions [XXIX ICPEAC] will take place in Toledo (Spain) from 22 to 28 July 2015. The invited speakers include the Nobel Prize Laureates Ahmed Zewail (Plenary Talk) and Serge Haroche (Public Lecture), as well as the Prince of Asturias Laureate Pedro Echenique (Public Lecture), whose talks will commemorate the International Year of Light. As usual, the ICPEAC conference will gather the most prestigious scientists in the field and will be an active forum for scientific discussions and inspiration.
