EPS Executive Committee and Staff activities November 2019
November 2019: Luc Bergé, member of the EPS Executive Committee, organised the jury committee and the selection of the 2019 Winter edition of the Emmy Noether Distinction together with the members of the EPS Equal Opportunity Committee.
4-5 November 2019: Petra Rudolf, EPS president, participated in the “Conference on Global Approach to the Gender Gap in Mathematical, Computing and Natural Sciences: How to Measure It, How to Reduce It?” at the ICTP in Trieste, Italy, and gave the ICTP Colloqium on “Molecular motors and switches at surfaces” as scientific highlight of the conference.
6-7 November 2019: Petra Rudolf, participated in the International Scientific Symposium “Passion for Science New Elements and New Materials” on the occasion of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019)”, organised by the Italian Physical Society (SIF) in collaboration with the Chemical Physical Society. As the concluding event of the symposium, she also inaugurated the Accademia delle Scienze dell’Istituto di Bologna, Italy, as an EPS historic site.
19 November 2019: Petra Rudolf, David Lee, EPS Secretary General, and Frances Saunders, member of the EPS Executive Committee, participated in the IoP Awards Dinner at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, UK, where Petra Rudolf together with the IoP president Jonathan Flint handed over the EPS Gero Thomas Medal to Sir John Enderby.
25 November 2019: Luc Bergé went to Georg-August-University Göttingen, Germany, in order to present the Emmy Noether Distinction to Prof. Sarah Köster, recipient of the 2019 Summer Edition of this award.
29 November 2019: Petra Rudolf, visited EPS headquarters in Mulhouse to participate in the 2nd Board meeting of the EPS Grand Challenges editorial board.
