EPS Executive Committee and Staff activities October 2016
30 September – 1 October 2016: Executive Committee meeting in San Sebastian, Spain, and participation in the 4th Passion for Knowledge Festival with attribution of EPS recognition to DIPC in form of a plaque with the citation: "The European Physical Society recognises the outstanding contributions of Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) in the field of condensed matter physics and materials science, as well as its multiple successful outreach activities” (EPS Outreach Prize).
3 October 2016: D. Lee, EPS Secretary General, attended the closing ceremony, with the presentation of the final report on the International Year of Light at UNESCO Paris Office, France.
5-6 October 2016: D. Lee, EPS Secretary General attended the 3rd consortium meeting of the EU funded project CREATIONS.
7-8 October 2016: C. Rossel, EPS President, D. Lee, EPS Secretary General and F. Burr, EPL Staff Editor, attended Meetings of the EPLA Board of Directors and of the EPL Editorial Board at the Villa del Grumello in Como, Italy. The awards ceremony for the 2016 EPS Edison Volta Prize attributed to Michel Orrit of Leiden University was also organised.
8 October 2016: F. Burr, EPL Staff Editor, attended the EPL Management Committee in Como, Italy.
14 October 2016: The EPS secretariat organised the Extraordinary Council in Mulhouse, France. The meeting was chaired by C. Rossel, EPS President.
27 October 2016: C. Rossel, EPS President, D. Lee, EPS Secretary General, O. Fornari and S. Amri, members of the EPS conferences department, attended the VII EPS Forum Physics and Society in London, United Kingdom. The VII FPS was devoted to ‘Getting the Diversity Balance Right in Physics ’.
27 October 2016: C. Rossel, EPS President and D. Lee, EPS Secretary General, met with Paul Hardaker, CEO of IOP, and Tajinder Panesor, Head of International at IOP.
28 October 2016: C. Rossel, EPS President, D. Lee, EPS Secretary General, and O. Fornari participated in the 14th Young Mind Action Committee in London (IOP) presided by its new chair Eva Salvador.
