Less than ten years after its selection by the European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures [ESFRI] to be part of Europe’s Roadmap of research infrastructures of pan-European interest, the Extreme Light Infrastructure’s implementation is close to completion on three sites in Czech Republic (ELI-Beams), Hungary (ELI-Attosecond) and Romania (ELI-Nuclear Physics), and the ELI project is about to become one of the “ESFRI landmarks”, for its key role as reference project of scientific excellence and of competitiveness of the European Research Area [ERA].
The central square of Naples Piazza del Plebiscito was trasformed into a big village of science for the 29th edition of “Futuro Remoto” from 16-19 October 2015. This event on scientific promotion and dissemination promoted by Fondazione Idis-Città della Scienza, University of Naples Federico II and Regional Education Office, was dedicated to the theme of frontiers.
Inspired by Light: Reflections from the International Year of Light 2015, is a collection of 56 blog posts from researchers, industry professionals, students, NGO representatives, a Nobel laureate, and other authors from 24 countries that were published on the IYL 2015 blog. This book, to be published in January 2016 for distribution at the IYL 2015 Closing Ceremony, was produced by SPIE in concert with the European Physical Society and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) to celebrate the achievements of IYL 2015.

The 26th Conference of the Condensed Matter Division [CMD26], to be held in Groningen, the Netherlands, from 5-9 September 2016, will encompass all areas of Condensed Matter Physics, from soft matter and biophysics to correlated electron systems and quantum simulators.
MPTL-conferences (Multimedia in Physics Teaching and Learning) provide an international forum for the discussion of recent developments and advances and ensure that the knowledge and experience in new methods and approaches are shared throughout the physics community. Innovations but also challenges for teaching and learning physics with modern media are discussed. Material for primary schools is included as well as topics for universities.
The Inspiring Science Education Academy 2016 [ISE] is specifically designed for teaching professionals in STEM disciplines and consists of several courses. The main objectives of all ISE courses are to introduce teachers to implementing Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE). Teachers and education professionals will be trained in transferring the concept of scientific methodology into the classroom and linking it with the numerous collections of open digital educational resources to design innovative educational scenarios.
