The Young Minds Valladolid section is included in the non-profit association Physics League which has engaged in several outreach activities in 2015. One of them is a show to demystify some of the most common beliefs of pseudo-science called “The power of physics”. In this show some apparently ‘paranormal’ tricks or “superpowers” are easily explained with physical laws. For instance:
The winners of the Inspiring Science Education [ISE] Competition entitled Learning with Light were announced this afternoon at the Awards Ceremony of the Science on Stage 2015 Festival in London.
The two winners are …
The European Committee for Future Accelerators [ECFA] and the High Energy and Particle Physics Division of the European Physical Society [EPS-HEPP] have jointly prepared a document to help professional committees to assess the achievements of individual particle physicists from large experimental collaborations. The document is motivated by the need to explain to scientists from outside the community of experimental high-energy physics the way these collaborations, of few hundred to few thousand members, are organized in order to design, build and carry out the scientific program of large-scale experiments.

The Teaching Physics Innovatively, New Learning Environments and Methods in Physics Education Conference will be held on 17-19 August 2015 at the ELTE University, Faculty of Science, Budapest, Hungary.
The 20th International Conference on Multimedia in Physics Teaching and Learning [MPTL'20] will be held on 9-11 September 2015 at the LMU Munich, Germany.
The 31st European Conference on Surface Science [ECOSS-31] will be held at the International Convention Center of Barcelona www.ccib.es from 31 August to 4 September 2015. ECOSS is a well established meeting with a longstanding tradition that started back in 1978 in Amsterdam and is organized jointly by the Surface Science Division of IUVSTA and the Surface and Interface Section of the European Physical Society. It provides a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art surface physics and chemistry, discusses recent advances and current problems, and points out the prospective development of the field. Experimental as well as theoretical aspects are addressed, covering mainly …
The international meeting “Challenges in Data Science: a Complex Systems Perspective” will be held from 14-17 October 2015 at the Castello del Valentino, UNESCO Site and Faculty of Architecture of the Politecnico di Torino
The 29th International Conference on Photonic, Electronic and Atomic Collisions [XXIX ICPEAC] will take place in Toledo (Spain) from 22 to 28 July 2015. The invited speakers include the Nobel Prize Laureates Ahmed Zewail (Plenary Talk) and Serge Haroche (Public Lecture), as well as the Prince of Asturias Laureate Pedro Echenique (Public Lecture), whose talks will commemorate the International Year of Light. As usual, the ICPEAC conference will gather the most prestigious scientists in the field and will be an active forum for scientific discussions and inspiration.
The European Physical Society Conference on High Energy Physics [EPS-HEP] is one of the major international conferences that reviews the field of high energy physics every second year. The High Energy and Particle Physics Division of the European Physical Society has organised this conference since its beginning in 1971. The latest conferences in this series were held in Stockholm, Grenoble, Krakow, Manchester, Lisbon and Aachen.
