Ana Proykova elected to be an expert for Horizon 2020
Since January 2014, Ana Proykova, former member of the EPS Executive Committee from Bulgaria, is a member of the Horizon 2020 Future and Emerging Technologies [FET] Advisory Group.
The FET Advisory Group is part of the Advisory Groups put in place to provide advice to the Commission on the implementation for framework programme for research and innovation Horizon 2020. This particular group will be tasked with the future and emerging technologies objective within the “excellent science” priority.
The FET Advisory Group is asked to provide the Commission with strategic guidance about the logic that should inform the development of the programme in a medium to long-term perspective, and how this should be reflected in the priorities and indicative allocation of budgetary resources in the next work-programmes.
Although the FET activities have been historically associated with information and communication technologies, the scope of the activities funded by FET has actually been much wider. This orientation towards multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and innovation going beyond the traditional boundaries of ICT will be pursued and further developed with FET in Horizon 2020.
The 26 members of the FET Advisory Group were chosen according to a selection process that guarantees a high level of expertise as well as geographical and gender balances. So far 14 advisory boards have been set up for Horizon 2020. They cover a broad range of topics: financial risks, environment, demographic change, professional training, etc.
