SEENET-MTP Network celebrate its 10th year during the BW2013
The new edition of the Balkan Workshop – “Beyond Standard Models” [BW2013] will be held this spring, from 25 to 29 April 2013, in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia.
The series of Balkan workshops has been a very important part of a project of the Southeastern European Network in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics [SEENET-MTP]. Created in 2003, SEENET-MTP was the initiative of the University of Niš, Serbia, and the Scientists in Global Responsibility project (“Wissenschaftler in Global Verantwortung” in German) of Prof. Julius Wess from the Ludwig-Maximilians University [LMU] of Munich, Germany.
This event also provides an opportunity to mark the 10th anniversary of the SEENET-MTP Network, which consists of 20 scientific institutions from 11 countries from the region. SEENET-MTP also has partner institutions and more than 300 individual members from around the world. The main aim of the network is to promote and enhance joint research, engage in capacity-building in science, and the development of a collaborative atmosphere in the region.
The first two days will be devoted to purely scientific problems such as new trends in (astro)particle physics and cosmology. It will be an excellent opportunity to gather leading experts in physics and gifted students from Central European and Balkan countries, the European Union, the United States of America and Eastern Europe, to discuss open problems and perspectives. More than 70 participants from 30 countries are expected to attend the workshop.
The third day will be organized as a series of round tables on the building of sustainable knowledge-based societies and European integration, with a few invited lecturers and moderators from Central European Initiative [CEI], UNESCO, European Physical Society [EPS], Balkan Physical Union [BPU] and others.
The BW2013 is organized by the Faculty of Science and Mathematics Niš and SENEET-MTP Network and Office in Niš, in cooperation with CERN Theory Division, LMU/Max Planck Institute, the International Centre for Theoretical Physics [ICTP] and the Physical Society Niš as local co-organizer. This event is made possible due to significant support from the CEI, ICTP, UNESCO Venice Office, and under the patronage of the EPS.
