The number of EPS Individual Members has surpassed 3500
Since 2011, the European Physical Society [EPS] has been examining and testing various methods of increasing the number of individual members. On the occasion of some EPS conferences, as for instance the EPS High Energy Physics Division conference, participants have been effectively invited to become EPS individual members. Some EPS member societies, such as the Italian Physical Society [SIF], have been actively encouraging their young members to become at the same time EPS individual members. Other initiatives will be implemented in 2013.
The individual members directory, on the EPS website allows EPS members to provide extensive information regarding their research and professional interests. The community building and exchange tools have also been enhanced. Among the benefits extended to members in 2012 is access to the European Journal of Physics [EJP], dedicated to physics education, and to The European Physical Journal H [EPJ H], a journal presenting the historical development of ideas in contemporary physics.
