Nobel Laureates warn against Horizon2020 budget
In an Open Letter to the EU Heads of States and Governments, 42 Nobel Laureates and 5 Fields Medallists have stated their grave concern that the upcoming negotations on the overall EU budget from 2014-2020 will disproportionally hit the research and innovation budget. 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics
The 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to Serge Haroche (College de France and Ecole Normale Superieure, Paris, France) and David J. The Dark Energy Camera opens eyes and data
The Dark Energy Camera in Chile took its first picture in September 2012. After a series of tests, the 570-megapixels camera is expected to be operational in December 2012.

Asia-Europe-Pacific School of High-Energy Physics
The Asia-Europe-Pacific School of High-Energy Physics [AEPSHEP2012] is being held at the Luigans Spa & Resort, in Fukuoka, Japan, on 14-27 October this year. The school, which will be held in English, has places for around 100 PhD, advanced masters’ and junior post-doc students in the fields of experimental particle physics and phenomenology.
