Balkan Summer Institute 2011
The Balkan Summer Institute (BSI) 2011 will be held between 19 August and 1 September this year, in the Đerdap National Park, Serbia.
The institute will focus on high energy physics, with a special focus on dark matter – and related topics in astrophysics, cosmology and particle physics – and scientific outreach and education.
The two-week long event will include: the Cosmology and Particle Physics Beyond the Standard Models summer school, from 21-27 August; the Scientific and Human Legacy of Julius Wess workshop, from 27-28 August; the Particle Physics from TeV to Plank Scale workshop, from 21 August to 1 September; and Trends in Modern Physics, a seminar for school teachers, from 19-21 August.
BSI2011 is being organised by the Niš office of the South-eastern European Network in Mathematical and Theoretical Physics Network Office and the Niš Physical Society, in cooperation with the Belgrade Astronomical Observatory; CERN; Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst; Ecole Polytechnique; the European Physical Society; the Faculty of Physics, University of Craiova; the French Embassy in Belgrade; the International Centre for Theoretical Physics; Ludwig-Maximilians University; Serbian Ministry of Education and Science; and the Venice office of UNESCO.
